Women With Heart to Celebrate Two Van Zandt County Women

TYLER, TX - In recognition of February as National Heart Month, Louis and Peaches Owen Heart Hospital at Trinity Mother Frances and KYTX CBS 19 are preparing to celebrate two remarkable Van Zandt County women who have battled and conquered, cardiac disease with the help of Trinity Mother Frances Louis and Peaches Owen Heart Hospital and exude a spirit that has inspired others.

Throughout the month of November, TMFHC and KYTX CBS 19 received nominations and the two women chosen to represent Van Zandt County are Linda Jones and Ann Hintze. Please read a short story about their triumphs over heart disease below.

According to statistics from the American Heart Association, heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases cause approximately half of all deaths in American women and one out of three women over age 65 has some form of heart disease. No longer is it considered a disease suffered only by men. We hope you will help us spread the word about our ‘Women With Heart’ event to those in your community.

Ms. Jones and and Ms. Hintze will be honored during a special evening of food, fellowship, and learning Tuesday, February 17, 5:30 p.m. at the Canton Civic Center. The dinner is free and open to the public. It will educate attendees about the risks for heart disease, and feature door prizes and informational booths. Seating is limited; please call (903) 606-DOCS to reserve your spot today.

Van Zandt County ‘Women With Heart’

Linda Jones

I am probably a lot like you. I am from Edgewood. Life was going along fine until I noticed swelling in my feet and I started having a shortness of breath. Well, the symptoms grew worse. Even the most basic tasks left me out of breath and worn out. My family doctor immediately referred me to the Louis and Peaches Owen Heart Hospital where a cath revealed blockage that needed immediate valve replacement and double bypass surgery. But it did not stop me! This facility is state-of-the art. And the team is compassionate and dedicated. Now I feel great and I just went on a cruise. Just like you, I have hopes. I have dreams. I have heart!

Ann Hintze

I am probably a lot like you. I love being a grandmother! I first thought I might have problem when I could not keep my hands and feet warm. Even several pairs of socks would not help! Turns out, I needed to have my aortic valve replaced, which I did right here at the Louis and Peaches Owen Heart Hospital. Trinity Clinic Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Dr. Doolabh, performed replacement valve surgery. I just love him! With God and this inspired staff taking care of me, my heart problem has not stopped me! In fact, I plan to watch my 10-year-old granddaughter play softball this spring. Just like you, I have hopes. I have dreams. I have heart!
