Dr. Anderson has served as the medical director for the CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Flight For Life program since 2003 and also serves as medical director for the CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital - Tyler EmergencyCARE Center. Dr. Anderson received his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson and completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. He is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and the American College of Forensic Medicine.

Terri Hoffman, MD

Operational Medical Director

Terri Hoffman, MD has served as the medical director for CHRISTUS Flight For Life since 2017 and also serves as staff physician for CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital - Tyler Critical Care Medicine Services. Dr. Hoffman received her medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine and completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Pitt County Memorial Hospital – East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.

Dr. Hoffman has served as co-Medical Director for the International Association of Flight and Critical Care Paramedics since 2005 and has served as a reviewer for the Air Medical Journal since 2010. She currently serves as Critical Care and EMS Liaison to the Trauma Committee at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital – Tyler and has many conference lectures and published works to her credit.

Shawn Salter

Shawn Salter

Mr. Shawn Salter has over 30 years of executive and clinical experience in transport medicine, aviation operations, critical care, and pre-hospital care. He most recently served as a Regional Vice President and Regional Director for a national provider of medical aviation services. Prior to those positions, Mr. Salter was the President and Chief Executive Officer for San Antonio AirLIFE, following his role as the Director of Clinical Operations for the same organization. His clinical career has included positions as a Flight Nurse at AirLIFE, a critical-care nurse, a Flight Paramedic for Hermann Life Flight, an EMS Educator and a County EMS Director.

Mr. Salter is a frequent speaker on critical care and transport medicine topics at regional, state, and national conferences. His published works include areas of critical care medicine, pediatric case studies, and trauma modules for EMS personnel continuing education.

Mr. Salter was recently appointed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott as a member of the Governor’s EMS and Trauma Advisory Council (GETAC), and is President Elect of the Texas Association of Air Medical Services (TAAMS). His other appointments and committee work include: past Chair of the GETAC Air Medical & Specialty Care Transport committee; seven terms on the Executive Committee of the Southwest Texas Regional Advisory Council (STRAC) for Trauma; service as the Air-Operations Branch Director for the South Texas Regional Medical Operations Center (RMOC); and two terms as the Region IV Director for the Association of Air Medical Services. He is an active member of the Air and Surface Transport Nurses Association and the International Association of Flight Paramedics and is a graduate of the Medical Transport Leadership Institute.

Flight Crew

The medical crew consists of one Flight RN/EMT-Paramedic and one Flight Paramedic. Our flight teams are required to be dual board certified in their specialty. All crew members stay current in ACLS, PALS, NRP, ultrasound training and trauma certifications. Quality patient care and safety are our primary goals.

The initial training of our crews consists of a 12- to 24-week process. New crew members undergo hospital orientation in hospital clinicals, aircraft and safety orientation and flight orientation with medical crews.
