CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System Breaks Ground on Canton Emergency Room Expansion

Canton, Texas – Construction of the new emergency room expansion at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances HealthPark - Canton is officially underway with the groundbreaking ceremony set for 10:00 a.m. on April 16.

Administrators from CHRISTUS Health will join the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, providers, nurses and Associates in celebrating this momentous occasion alongside local and regional officials and leaders.

“This is an important development for CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System, as well as for the city of Canton and the people of Northeast Texas who rely on us for urgent and emergency care,” said Jason Proctor, President and Chief Executive Officer, CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospitals - Tyler, South Tyler, Jacksonville and the CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Louis and Peaches Owen Heart Hospital - Tyler. “We are excited to begin construction on the next step in our 30-plus year history of providing interventional health care services to Canton and Van Zandt County.”

The new CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Emergency Care Center - Canton will encompass 7,650 square feet and serve as a full-scale emergency department onsite at the HealthPark, conveniently located just off of Interstate 20 near the exit for Edgewood Road. It features six exam rooms, one trauma room, advanced imaging services and a laboratory for easier access to test results. The Emergency Care Center will be staffed with certified Emergency Medicine physicians and nurses who will join the CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic team of primary care providers, as well as the specialty providers in cardiology, orthopedics and sleep medicine that already see patients at the HealthPark. The HealthPark also features a recently expanded cardiac and physical therapy center, mammography services, and a 24/7 health and fitness center.

“This facility will make emergency care available 24-hours-a-day, 365-days-a-year at a location that is more easily accessible for a lot of East Texans,” said Proctor. “In a medical emergency, when minutes or even seconds matter most, this facility allows us to examine and treat patients as efficiently and effectively as possible.”
