"Mothers" Loves Babies
For over 70 years Trinity Mother Frances has been known as the “baby” hospital of East Texas. With our annual number of births over 2,500 we are dedicated, as a faith-based organization, to helping ensure that every parent’s vision for their newborn – new life, new dreams, new hope – has the chance to be fulfilled.

In November 2008, through the generous support and involvement of the community, Trinity Mother Frances opened the first Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Tyler, Texas. The NICU now makes it possible to offer the state-of-the-art technology, facilities and skilled staff required to provide compassionate, quality care to both healthy babies and those born too sick or too soon, right here close to home and the support system of family and friends. By giving families local access to this level of medical care, we can eliminate the additional stress associated with travel, food and lodging expenses, and “missed work days” incurred when a newborn is transferred to another city.

When expecting the last thing you want to worry about is how your baby will be cared for. We focus on making sure a mother’s delivery and a newborn’s NICU stay does not become a financial burden on a family, so they may focus on getting well and going home.

We accept ALL insurance plans with in-and-out-of-network benefits. For more information regarding insurance coverage for Maternal Child services provided at Trinity Mother Frances, please call (903) 531-5726 .

Our Services:
- Evaluate, stabilize, and treat premature infants as early as 26 weeks who require prolonged hospitalization
- Evaluate, stabilize and treat term infants with breathing difficulties, infections, and other medical problems after birth
- Admit infants less than 7 days of age to the NICU from the Emergency Room or a physician’s office for dehydration, jaundice, or other medical and respiratory issues
- Consult with obstetricians, pediatricians, and family physicians about conditions affecting newborn infants
- Supervise the transport of infants to Trinity Mother Frances Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

We work closely with your local physicians to deliver the continuity of care our patients need to grow and thrive.

Special Deliveries
13% of Smith Country newborns are premature and nearly 10% of ALL newborns require the medical expertise only available in a NICU.

When you're expecting, the unexpected can happen. We've planned for it. Have you? Our Level III NICU is equipped to care for babies born as early as 26 weeks or weighing as little as one pound, as well as full-term babies with breathing difficulties, infections and other health conditions.

For newborns meeting these criteria, the safest mode of transport to our NICU is directly from the Trinity Mother Frances Birth Center. By choosing to deliver at Trinity Mother Frances you can ensure that your newborn has immediate access to the medical expertise they need.

But, when situations arise and transport from another facility is necessary, our Neonatal Transport Team is available for the emergency ground transport of infants in need of the care we provide at the Trinity Mother Frances NICU.

When expecting, planning is everything, and now mothers can plan on staying in Tyler for their delivery and, if necessary, their newborn’s neonatal intensive care needs. The Trinity Mother Frances NICU was also the first NICU in East Texas to install the March of Dimes’ NICU Family Support® Center, informational kiosk, and it is available to educate and comfort families of babies spending time in the NICU.
