“I received my Bachelor of Arts in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. My professional interests include oncology, ambulatory care, infectious diseases and cardiology. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, sampling local cuisines, exploring outdoors and watching movies. I am very excited and grateful to start my new journey as a Pharmacy Resident here at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances. Everyone here is not only committed to excellent and compassionate patient care, but also nurturing the next generation of young health care professionals like me. I am more than grateful to be part of this loving, big family."

“I am honored to be reunited with my CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances family after a brief time away to complete my studies. This hospital has been a second home to me for the past 10 years as I have worked from pharmacy technician to pharmacist. I cannot be more excited to be working for such a ground-breaking and progressive organization. I look forward to taking on each new challenge alongside the entire pharmacy team.”

"I am excited to join the CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances team as I know it will prepare me for my future career goals. As I enter into my own practice, I know that I will have the support and resources of many knowledgeable and seasoned preceptors to guide me.  With the trajectory of the program, I will be challenged with new experiences and exposed to a wide variety of patients all while working within a fine-tuned health care team."

David "Blake" Smith, PharmD

David Blake SmithEducation: Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy Weatherford, OK

Bio: I originally grew up in the East Texas area, however, I moved to Weatherford Oklahoma to pursue my Doctorate of Pharmacy degree. There I met my wife who graduated on the very same day as myself with her Bachelor of Nursing degree. Now we are expecting a beautiful baby girl in October! I am very excited to be back in East Texas and serve the community that I grew up in. I am truly honored to be a member of the Christus Trinity Mother Frances residency program. The preceptors here are unmatched in progressing clinical pharmacy services. They help us transition from student to professional practitioner and teach us to think more critically about patient care.

Throughout pharmacy school I realized that I wanted to do more for my patients as a pharmacist. Therefore, I decided to pursue a clinical pharmacy position. This residency will allow me to hone my clinical judgement and broaden my knowledge base so that I may provide the best quality care for my patients. I also have hopes of becoming a board certified pharmacotherapy specialist in the near future. I feel as though Christus Trinity Mother Frances Health Systems and Clinics will provide the perfect platform for me to grow as a practicing pharmacist and I am blessed for such a wonderful opportunity.
