Therapet Animal Assisted Therapy Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to facilitate the use of specially trained animals as a therapeutic modality to the healing and rehabilitation of acute and chronically ill individuals.
And The Therapet program has been successfully bringing smiles, uplifting spirits, and offering healing paws at Trinity Mother Frances since 1994. On the first three Wednesdays of the month, a group of elite and highly trained Therapets, and their handler’s transverse our corridors making a difference in the lives of our patients and staff.
These furry volunteers coax patients of all ages and their family members out of their shells and persuade them to concentrate on something other than the illness they are facing. Therapets are well known for their ability to ease the pain of recent surgery and painful treatments and lift the spirits of our patients and their families. Any Mother Frances Hospital patient can request a visit from the Therapets by contacting Volunteer Services.
