The Red Door Project

Transforming Pediatric Emergency Medicine in Northeast Texas

red door project

Beyond these doors, you will find the future of pediatric emergency medicine in Northeast Texas.

In 2017, CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Foundation launched The Red Door Project Emergency Department Initiative to address the ever-increasing number of patients seen in our current Emergency Room, 13,000 of whom are children. Our commitment to delivering care that addresses the special requirements of children begins at the front door. The Foundation Women’s Board’s 2017 Project, a dedicated Pediatric ER Waiting Room at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital - Tyler  apart from the adult emergency area — will protect children from potentially frightening adult emergencies.

  • Calming environment composed of cheerful colors
  • Child-sized furniture
  • Play areas
  • Colorful artwork
  • Saltwater aquarium

As a tribute to her life-long commitment to the children of the Northeast Texas community, we are pleased to announce that the Pediatric ER Waiting Room will be named in memory of Mary Dale Thomas. Her love and compassion for our youngest patients inspired the creation of this family-centered space - a colorful, calming environment addressing the unique needs of children.

Will you support the pediatric components of The Red Door Project and help open the door to a greatly needed Pediatric ER Waiting Room? Will you help us reduce the anxiety children experience when exposed to a busy adult emergency area? Will you help us extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ to our smallest patients?

Mark 10:14-16

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” And He took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.
