Good Shepherd Medical Center and Trinity Mother Frances have long been recognized as preferred hospitals in the region. A history of caring brought these hospitals together to create a lifesaving partnership called Champion EMS.
Champion EMS serves a 35-county region with quality emergency medical services. In addition to emergency transport, Champion EMS provides transfer services for patients needing transportation from hospitals to convalescent, rehab or long-term nursing care facilities.
Champion EMS operates one of the region’s most technologically advanced communication centers. The 911 dispatch service is able to communicate with virtually every public safety agency in Northeast Texas. It’s staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week with certified emergency medical dispatchers who will stay on the line and provide emergency care instructions until the ambulance arrives.
Champion EMS has Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) ambulances – the highest level certified by the Texas Department of Health. The MICU ambulances feature vital life-saving equipment such as advanced life support cardiac monitors and defibrillators, intubation equipment and a full complement of medications and intravenous solutions.
A Champion EMS paramedic provides optimum front-line healthcare when it is needed most. In fact, all Champion EMS paramedics have certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) for heart problems and cardiac emergencies; Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) for trauma emergencies; and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for pediatric emergencies.
