Mark Anderson, MD

Dr. Anderson has served as the medical director for the CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Flight For Life program since 2003 and also serves as medical director for the CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital - Tyler EmergencyCARE Center. Dr. Anderson received his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson and completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. He is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and the American College of Forensic Medicine.

Michael Wilson, MD

Operational Medical Director

Dr. Wilson serves as an Emergency Care Center physician at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances.  Dr. Wilson became the medical director for Flight for Life in 2014.  Dr. Wilson received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.  He is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

Scott Kunkel

Scott Kunkel has been involved in transport medicine for 24 + years. He has worked for a variety of organizations in clinical and leadership positions. His experience includes pre-hospital emergency BLS / ALS, critical care ground transport, rotor wing and fixed wing air medical transport. Mr. Kunkel holds a MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Administration and a Bachelor of Science Degree. He is a Certified Medical Transport Executive (CMTE), Flight Paramedic-Certified (FP-C), and Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C) and has been a Nationally Registered Paramedic (NREMT-P) since 1988. He is a site surveyor for the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS). He maintains membership in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), and a number of clinical associations.

Flight Crew

The medical crew consists of one Flight RN/EMT-Paramedic and one Flight Paramedic. Our flight teams are required to be dual board certified in their specialty. Flight Nurses are required to have their CFRN and CCRN. Flight Paramedics are required to have their FP-C and CCP-C. All crew members stay current in ACLS, PALS, NRP, Ultrasound training and Trauma certifications.  Quality patient care and safety are our primary goals.

The initial training of our crews consists of a process that is 12-24 weeks. New crew members undergo hospital orientation in hospital clinicals, aircraft and safety orientation and flight orientation with medical crews.
