TYLER, TX – The Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) announced the 2017 winners of the MAP Award for High Performance in Revenue Cycle, including four integrated delivery systems, two hospital systems, seven individual hospitals and four physician practices.

The 2017 award marks the third year in a row on the winners list and the second year running that CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System is the only winner from the state of Texas. They are also one of only four integrated delivery systems recognized across the nation.

HFMA's MAP Award for High Performance in Revenue Cycle recognizes providers that have excelled in meeting industry standard revenue cycle benchmarks (MAP Keys), implemented the patient-centered recommendations and best practices embodied in HFMA's Best Practices for Patient Financial Communications and achieved outstanding patient satisfaction. Award recipients are acknowledged as industry leaders and share proven strategies with their colleagues. More than 110 facilities began the application process for this year’s award.

"Congratulations to all of our winning organizations, which have not only adopted HFMA's Best Practices for Patient Financial Communications but also achieved excellence in revenue cycle overall," said HFMA President and CEO Joseph J. Fifer, FHFMA, CPA. "These exceptional organizations have superior processes for communicating complex financial issues to patients in understandable ways."

Andrew von Eschenbach, Vice President of Revenue Cycle, CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System in Tyler, TX remarked, “Applying for the MAP Award for High Performance reaffirmed and validated that we are doing the right things in revenue cycle – especially around key performance metrics, patient engagement and patient satisfaction. As an organization, it prompted us to take a critical look at ‘what’s next’ while reminding us all that when we focus on executing our revenue cycle strategies, great things can happen.”

“We have been focused and diligent in our efforts over the past few years to ensure that our highly performing clinical operation is supported by a highly functioning revenue cycle operation,” said Leah Dixon, Administrative Director, CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System -  Patient Access Center. “It is a tremendous honor to receive this recognition, because the competition is very tough and the challenges we face in health care are immense. Our revenue cycle is an all-encompassing operation that involves all processes related to access, pre-registration, insurance verification, registration, financial support services, care management, charge capture, billing compliance, coding, documentation and records management, insurance and patient billing, collections and denial management. We may not work at the bedside, but we still serve the patients of CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System. The focus of our revenue cycle is to deliver exceptional service to our patients so their focus can be on getting better.”
