CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital puts Tyler in National Spotlight for Exceptional Neurosurgery and Spine Program

TYLER, TX – CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital - Tyler has been included in Becker's Hospital Review’s recently published  2016 edition of "100 Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Neurosurgery and Spine Programs." The hospitals and health systems on this year's list are national forerunners in neuroscience, providing treatment for patients suffering from various conditions and injuries pertaining to the brain and spine.

“We are incredibly pleased to be included in this prestigious list of hospitals who are distinguished nationally for their quality of care, service and skill,” said Chris Glenney, FACHE, Chief Operating Officer for CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System. “This recognition is a strong example of the tireless effort and energy given by each member of the CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital - Tyler and Neuroscience Institute teams to ensure that our patients receive the highest quality health care available.”

To develop this list, Becker's Hospital Review selected hospitals for inclusion based on national rankings and awards garnered for superior outcomes in neurosurgery, neurological care and spine surgery. The team examined U.S. News & World Report national rankings for neurology and neurosurgery; CareChex national and regional rankings for neurological care, neurosurgery and spine surgery; Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery designation; Healthgrades awards for spine surgery, neurosurgery, cranial neurosurgery and stroke care; and Magnet designation for nursing excellence.

“Without the continual effort and achievements of the medical staff, physicians and all our Associates, this honor would not be possible,” said Glenney. “The remarkable dedication and quality shown by these teams has resulted in numerous awards and distinctions over the last weeks, months and years, and this recognition is a wonderful summation of the varied and distinct honors they’ve achieved. We are proud to be named among these hospitals and health system – not only because it means that we are working in the right directions to constantly improve, but because it means that we are able to offer the very best care to our patients.”

“The Becker’s recognition is based on a number of individually researched and standardized awards,” said Shawn Dunn, M.D., Medical Director of the CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Neuroscience Institute. “The methodologies for presenting each of these awards are different and offer a unique perspective on what makes a program excellent in a particular way. However, the Becker’s recognition is a sort of compilation of all of these different facets of neurosurgery and spine programs – and in order to earn this recognition a health care system has to offer a truly complete and excellent continuum of care for its patients.”

CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital - Tyler is one of only four hospitals in Texas to be named to the to Becker’s Hospital Review 100 Great Community Hospitals.
