Trinity Mother Frances Partners With Jacksonville ISD Athletics

TYLER, TX – Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics has formalized a partnership with the Jacksonville Independent School District (JISD) to provide their Athletics Department with clinical, consulting and training services, beginning this school year.

“This is a partnership we have been working on for awhile,” said James Rapp, Director of Sports Medicine at Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics. “Trinity Mother Frances has deep roots in the Jacksonville Community, through Mother Frances Hospital Jacksonville and the Health and Fitness Center. That facility has an outstanding physical therapy program, and there are currently sports medicine specialists who serve this community on a regular basis.”

As a part of the partnership contract TMFHC will provide a full-time athletic trainer to Jacksonville High School and Middle School to serve their student athlete population. There is already a school-hired trainer on staff, Jason Kraus, a previous graduate of TMFHC’s Sports Medicine Training Program. JISD will also have immediate physician access, two sports medicine physicians who visit the school each week to treat athletes, and there will also be a physician presence at all home varsity football games. JISD will also benefit from rapid access treatment, allowing up to 300 athletes to be seen within 24 hours. There is also a Free Sports Medicine Clinic every Saturday during the fall at Trinity Mother Frances Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, at HealthPark Plaza in Tyler, which offers same-day MRIs and imaging.

“With this agreement, we will be able to help ensure that the student athletes of Jacksonville receive the highest levels of orthopedic and sports medicine care,” said Joshua Stein, MD, Trinity Clinic Orthopedics. “We will have physicians – both local providers and visiting specialists – on the sidelines at many sporting events, including all home varsity football games. We are incredibly excited to get to work with these young men and women and to provide them the care they need in order to stay healthy and safe playing the sports they love.”
