TMFHC and East Texas Triathletes Partner for Trinity Mother Frances Rose City Triathlon

TYLER, TX – Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics has partnered with East Texas Triathletes to present the Trinity Mother Frances Rose City Triathlon. The annual sprint triathlon (650 meter open water swim, 12 mile bike, 3.1 mile run) will take place at a specially designed Lake Tyler course on September 5, 2015.

In its eighth year, the event is known for a beautiful course around Lake Tyler and its trend of attracting new participants from across East Texas and beyond each year. In fact, each year members of USA Triathlon Association vote on their favorite small, medium, and large triathlon. Over the past few years our – South Midwest – region (4 states) has voted the Rose City Triathlon favorite small (2008) and medium (2009 & 2012) triathlon, as well as champ venue for 2011 and 2013.

“The distance is perfect for beginner triathletes and the club is looking forward to getting more people from the community involved in triathlon,” said Jonathon Johnson, ETT club president. “We are very excited to partner with Trinity Mother Frances to grow and expand triathlon in Tyler. We look forward to making this the best sprint triathlon in the area and hope to see lots of new athletes take up the sport this year.”

Event organizers are hoping for 500 participants this year, as the partnership between TMFHC and ET Triathletes grows. Additionally, funds raised by the race will be donated to the Tyler chapter of the YMCA.

“Trinity Mother Frances has always taken a strong interest in the health of our community,” said Anne Pileggi, Administrative Director of System Imaging and East Texas Triathletes member. “By partnering with groups like East Texas Triathletes to present this event, Trinity Mother Frances is able to take an active role in improving the health and lives of East Texans.”

From now until race day, East Texas Triathletes will be hosting several clinics focused on the components necessary to successfully complete a triathlon – swimming, biking and running. The first clinic is focused on swim techniques and is set for Feb. 21 at the YMCA. All clinics are FREE to ETT members, and individual and family memberships are available. The 2015 triathlon will also host a kids’ triathlon, with plans currently underway.
