Mother Frances Hospital Named to Becker's Hospital Review 125 Hospitals & Health Systems with Great Orthopedic Programs in 2014

TYLER, TX – Mother Frances Hospital has been included in Becker's Hospital Review’s recently published 2014 edition of "125 Hospitals and Health Systems With Great Orthopedic Programs," a list based on hospitals' accolades, quality of care and services provided to their patient populations.

“We are incredibly pleased to again be included in this prestigious list of hospitals who are distinguished nationally for their quality of care, service and skill,” said John McGreevy, Chief Executive Officer, Mother Frances Hospital Tyler. “This recognition is a strong example of the tireless effort and energy given by each member of the Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics team to ensure that our patients receive the highest quality orthopedic healthcare available.”
The Becker's Hospital Review stated, “The organizations included on this list have orthopedic surgery departments, programs or dedicated centers that have earned considerable recognition. Exceptional orthopedic departments often include physicians who provide outstanding patient care, advance cutting-edge orthopedic research and treat professional athletes. Many of these hospitals have earned recognition for orthopedic excellence from U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, CareChex and Blue Cross Blue Shield. To devise this list, the Becker's editorial team weighted the aforementioned rankings and recognition, and conducted research to find the following hospitals as those with great orthopedic programs.” Becker’s also noted that organizations cannot pay to be included in this list.
“Without the previous achievements of the medical staff, physicians and all our employees, this honor would not be possible,” said Ray Thompson, FACHE, Chief Operating Officer for Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics. “Thanks to astonishing efforts that have resulted in numerous awards and distinctions over the last weeks, months and years, the TMFHC team is proud to be named among the 125 Hospitals and Health Systems With Great Orthopedic Programs – not only because it means that we are working in the right directions to constantly improve, but because it means that we are able to offer the very best care to our patients.”

Trinity Mother Frances Orthopedics and Sports Medicine provides comprehensive orthopedic care and athletic training. The program cares for athletes from The University of Texas at Tyler, Texas College in Tyler, Kilgore (Texas) College, Tyler Junior College and more than 25 high schools. Mother Frances Hospital is a Blue Distinction Center+ for hip and knee replacement, as well as spine surgery. In 2014, the hospital was named one of the Top 100 in the nation for orthopedic surgery by CareChex, as well as number 1 in Texas for Medical Excellence in Orthopedics and number 1 in the market for Orthopedic Care and Major Orthopedic Surgery. Mother Frances Hospital Tyler was also ranked as one of the 100 Top hospitals overall in the U.S. by Truven Health Analytics this year.
