East Texas breast cancer survivors invited to annual luncheon
The Tyler affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® invites you to "BEE-lieve in the Power of Pink" by attending the 10th annual breast cancer survivor's luncheon. The event will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the Tyler Junior College-Rogers Student Center in the Apache Room.
Admission is free for breast cancer survivors and $12 per person for guests. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. for registration and shopping in the Komen boutique. The program will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This year's featured speaker is cancer survivor and motivational speaker Mamie McCullough. She is a former teacher and the author of five books. McCullough encourages guests to "Bee All You Can Be."
The event will also feature special videos from the 2008 Komen Tyler Race for the Cure, information about next year's race, educational displays and door prizes.
The Komen Tyler affiliate will also announce the recipient of the annual Joyce Greenberg volunteer award. Greenberg, a two-time breast cancer survivor was an inspiration to the community with her efforts to raise awareness about the disease. Greenberg passed away in 2006.
