JACKSONVILLE, TX - Trinity Mother Frances-Jacksonville has expanded its health and wellness services available to women with the addition of the SeleniaTM digital mammography system from Hologic®. Patients are scheduled to benefit from the new technology beginning September 17.

"The best protection is early detection, and with the addition of digital mammography our patients will benefit from the latest advances in breast cancer detection," said Chad Niles, MD, The Ross Breast Center and Trinity Clinic Radiology - Jacksonville.

"Digital mammography permits the radiologist to view the x-ray image more closely and zero in on areas of concern. This technology allows for faster imaging, enhanced image clarity and greater diagnostic accuracy. Digital mammography offers a number of practical advantages and patient conveniences including that it takes less than half the time of the traditional film-based exams that our patients are accustomed to," said John Larrinaga, MD, Medical Director, The Ross Breast Center.

As a part of this technology the patient will also benefit from a feature called Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) that flags or highlights characteristics commonly associated with breast cancer. CAD provides computer-enhanced images that assist the radiologist in making an accurate diagnosis.

"Trinity Mother Frances - Jacksonville is committed to caring for the women of east Texas." said Tom Cammack, Chief Administrative Officer, Trinity Mother Frances - Jacksonville. "Mammography can save lives, and we are fighting breast cancer with the latest technology available right here in Jacksonville."
