CMN CELEBRATION AT MOTHER FRANCES HOSPITAL SETS NEW RECORD

The 18th annual Children's Miracle Network Celebration, which aired on KETK 56 TV on June 4 and 5, live from Wisenbaker Conference Center at Mother Frances Hospital, set a new record. KETK air personalities Melissa Eichmann, Robert Thornton and Melissa Lanier led the way to a new total of $581,553, which surpassed last years' total of $567,000.

One hundred percent of the funds raised locally stay right here to benefit the children served by the Trinity Mother Frances Health System.

The Celebration was hosted nationally by music and television personality Marie Osmond and CMN co-founder John Schneider. In addition to the array of national celebrities, the Celebration featured local miracle stories of children who have benefited from equipment and services provided through Children's Miracle Network.

One of of those miracles is Branden William Young. Almost two years ago, when Will and Sabrina welcomed their healthy baby boy into the world at Mother Frances Hospital, they never imagined the medical challenges he would face. Branden developed atopic dermatitis, a common childhood skin condition when he was just two months old. At eight months, a rash spread all over his body. The Youngs took Branden to the Emergency Care Center at Mother Frances Hospital. Branden's condition quickly progressd to septic shock, an overwhelming, life-threatening infection in his tiny body. Crictically ill, Branden was suffering from a weakened immune system and very rare complications from the atopic dermatitis. Branden suffered numerous life-threatening complications. His lungs collapsed, he was in respiratory distress and had to be resuscitated twice. Branden also spent ten days on ECMO, a heart/lung bypass machine at Children's Medical Center in Dallas. After two long months in the hospital, Branden returned home to receive care from the Special Needs Clinic at Trinity Pediatric Clinic. He continues to amaze his doctors and his parents with his progress.
