CHILDREN’S MIRACLE NETWORK CELEBRATION BIGGEST EVER
19th Annual Fund-Raiser Nets More Than $604,630
TYLER, TX – The 19th Children’s Miracle Network Celebration at Mother Frances Hospital closed Sunday with a record-setting $604,630 in funding for pediatric services. The event was broadcast Saturday and Sunday on CBS-19 Television and featured local and national celebrities, Miracle Children’s stories and vignettes of the extensive pediatric care provided at Mother Frances Hospital and through Trinity Mother Frances Health System.
Children’s Miracle Network Miracle Children are those who battle a medical trauma or serious illness. Mother Frances Hospital is one of 170 hospitals throughout North America that provide care for 14 million children and benefit from the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) organization. One hundred percent of funds raised this weekend will stay in east Texas.
Last year, the CMN Celebration total was $ 581,553 locally. Generous funds donated throughout the year and during the telecast buy life-saving equipment and support special programs and educational materials for pediatric services offered through Trinity Mother Frances Health System. A community advisory committee, with representatives from area businesses that support the Children’s Miracle Network, allocates the funds for specific pediatric services.
"The Celebration is a wonderful opportunity for Miracle Families to share stories of hope with local and national sponsors and contributors who made their miracles possible," said Robin Rowan, Children’s Miracle Network Director, Trinity Mother Frances Health System. "The Children’s Miracle Network Celebration provides viewers a weekend of entertainment while supporting the children of east Texas. Every year the generosity of this community grows. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone for their wonderful support of Children’s Miracle Network. A special thanks to our voluntteers and to CBS-19 for being our partners."
Mrs. Rowan also noted the Celebration funds the Pediatric Special Needs Clinic, which is the only site in the region serving families whose children have chronic and complex medical conditions. Money from the Celebration also provides the Mother Frances Hospital special care nursery with equipment to help care for at-risk newborns.
