The Trinity Clinic Hospitalist Program provides immediate access to physician care for patients when they are admitted to Mother Frances Hospital. Hospitalists are dedicated inpatient physicians devoted to efficiently managing the process of inpatient care from the time of admission to discharge from the hospital. Hospitalists can be internal medicine or family medicine physicians and have training in specialties such as cardiology, intensive care and pediatrics. These physicians assume the primary responsibility for managing medical and surgical patients who are admitted to the hospital. A Hospitalist does not replace the patient’s primary care physician, surgeon or other specialist, but works in close consultation with them to provide total case management during the entire episode of inpatient care. Hospitalists keep the patient’s primary care physician up-to-date on their care and treatment plan.
The Hospitalist program has had a positive impact on quality outcomes and customer satisfaction, reducing inpatient length of stay and helping individuals return to their lives faster.
